Board states
The left board is the daily challenge before the first cat is placed. The right board is the same puzzle after the final placement. Regions, rows, and columns line up between the two images.

How to solve the October 18, 2026 daily board
The daily board follows the same rules as the main game: one cat per colour region, and no two cats share a row, a column, or a diagonal. These four habits cover most of the solve.
Start with the smallest region
A region with only one or two open squares decides a cat immediately. Every placement then rules out its row, column, region, and all eight neighbouring squares.
Write down the X marks
The board is solved by elimination. After each cat, mark every square it rules out before looking for the next placement — a clean set of X marks is what makes the next forced move visible.
Hunt locked regions
If every remaining square in a region sits in one row or one column, that line must take its cat from that region. The same works in reverse for a row whose candidates all belong to one region.
Never guess
A wrong X costs time; a wrong cat costs a heart. If nothing is forced, re-read the most constrained row instead of tapping a square and hoping.
Daily Challenge rules
- Place exactly one cat in each coloured region.
- No two cats may share a row or a column.
- No two cats may touch, not even diagonally.
- The board is labelled with the date, not a level number.
